Crypto winter continues

Against the backdrop of the general cooling of interest in cryptocurrencies in 2022, the beginning of 2023 is turning out to be extremely unsuccessful for Bitcoin. According to the analytical company CoinDesk, in the first 50 days of the year, the price of the first cryptocurrency showed the worst result in history.

To be more precise, Bitcoin has shown a 21.1% decline from January 1 to February 20. This is the most significant drop for a similar period since the launch of Bitcoin in 2009.

The previous anti-record was recorded in 2014, when digital gold lost about 20% in the first 50 days of the year. Thus, the beginning of 2023 turned out to be the worst for Bitcoin in history.

Pressure on the cryptocurrency market is exerted by the general decline in investor interest in risky assets against the backdrop of the tightening of monetary policy by the world's leading central banks, as well as a series of high-profile bankruptcies and scandals in the crypto industry last year.

Prospects for the crypto winter

Despite the frankly weak start of the year, most crypto experts are still optimistic about the further prospects of Bitcoin and altcoins. According to them, after going through cycles of increased volatility, the market will return to confident growth.

At the same time, analysts warn that in the short term, pressure on cryptocurrencies may persist. Much will depend on further actions of regulators and the general macroeconomic situation.
