Political battle and the influence of the crypto industry
The results of the Illinois Democratic primary have demonstrated that despite the active infusion of funds from the crypto community, voters have chosen the experienced politician Juliana Stratton, the state's lieutenant governor.
Stratton's opponent, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, received significant financial support from Fairshake, a political action committee close to the cryptocurrency industry. However, despite this, voters preferred the more experienced and 'mainstream' candidate.
This result can be seen as a signal that the influence of the crypto community on the political process in the US is still limited. Voters remain skeptical of the crypto industry's excessive involvement in elections and prefer candidates with a solid track record.
Nevertheless, the crypto lobby will continue to increase its influence, trying to promote industry-friendly legislation. But they still have to prove that they can exert a tangible impact on the outcome of key political battles.
