Iran's largest crypto exchange shows stability
According to a report by analytics firm TRM, Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange - Nobitex - did not show signs of significant capital outflow after the US airstrikes against Iran in early January 2020. While other Iranian crypto exchanges recorded increased outflows, the activity of Nobitex wallets looked like routine liquidity movements.
TRM experts analyzed blockchain data and did not find any signs of panic or mass withdrawal of funds from the Nobitex platform. On the contrary, the spike in wallet activity was characteristic of normal market activity, not an emergency withdrawal of capital.
This contrasts with broader data provided by Chainalysis, which recorded higher outflow volumes from Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges in general. Investors were likely redistributing their assets across different platforms, but not withdrawing them outside of Iran.
The stability of Nobitex, the largest and most popular exchange in Iran, is a positive signal for the local cryptocurrency market. This indicates that Iranian investors are not panicking yet and continue to actively trade on the domestic market, despite geopolitical tensions.
