New U.S. Treasury sanctions

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed new sanctions on a company linked to the sale of tools for hacking American software. According to the agency, an Australian citizen used cryptocurrency transactions to finance the development of malicious cyber tools, which were later sold to a Russian company known for its ties to the Operation Zero group.

This group, as reported, specializes in cyber attacks and exploits targeting U.S. government agencies and their allies. Thus, the Australian's efforts to sell these tools to Russian clients, according to the Treasury Department, pose a direct threat to the national security of the United States.

The introduction of new restrictive measures against such schemes of financing malicious cyber activity by opponents of the United States is an important step in the fight against the growing cybercrime. However, experts believe that law enforcement agencies and intelligence services still have a lot of work to do to curb such funding channels.
