Resolv USR stablecoin hacked: attacker cashes out $25 million
The cryptocurrency space has recently faced another incident related to the hacking of a stablecoin. This time, the victim was Resolv USR, a token issued by the Resolv Labs team.
According to CoinTelegraph, an unknown attacker was able to exploit a vulnerability in the Resolv USR protocol and mint around 80 million tokens. It is reported that the hacker was able to convert a portion of these funds and withdraw at least $25 million.
This led to the Resolv USR losing its peg to the US dollar, depegging from its intended value and, as a result, disrupting the stability of the stablecoin.
Such incidents, unfortunately, are not uncommon in the cryptocurrency industry. They clearly demonstrate the importance of thorough auditing of smart contracts and security systems of stablecoins before their launch. The Resolv Labs team will have to conduct an investigation, fix the vulnerability, and restore user trust in their product.
For market participants, this case serves as another reminder of the need to exercise due diligence when working with stablecoins and other DeFi protocols. Investors should pay special attention to the security and reputation of the teams behind such projects.
