SEC Open to Dialogue on Tokenization

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce urged companies working on the development of tokenized financial products to openly engage with the regulator. According to her, the SEC is not a "merit regulator" that decides what is a good or bad investment product, but rather seeks to help market participants comply with existing regulations.

Peirce made this statement during her speech at a cryptocurrency and blockchain conference in Miami. She emphasized that the SEC is ready to consult with companies working on tokenization and help them understand how the existing regulatory requirements apply.

Peirce's position reflects a more open and constructive approach of the SEC to engaging with participants in the emerging digital assets market. In the past, the regulator often took a tough stance towards companies that violated securities laws when issuing tokens.

At the same time, in the context of rapid technological development and the emergence of new financial instruments based on blockchain, the SEC is forced to constantly adapt the regulatory framework. Active dialogue with the industry helps the regulator better understand the specifics of these innovations and find a balanced approach to their regulation.

According to experts, this position of the SEC indicates recognition of the importance of tokenization for the transformation of the financial system. The regulator seeks not to miss this trend, but rather to contribute to its development within the legal framework.
