Senators Reject Sam Bankman-Fried's Crypto Regulation Proposals

Despite the fact that Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, is currently under arrest on fraud charges, he continues to publicly voice his opinions on the regulation of the cryptocurrency industry. In particular, Bankman-Fried expressed support for the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at 'clarifying' the status of crypto assets in the US.

However, as reported by Decrypt, senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties strongly criticized this initiative. In their view, Bankman-Fried, whose name is now associated with the FTX scandal, should not be involved in developing the regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.

'Some seem to be looking for a pardon,' said Republican senator Bill Hagerty, implying that Bankman-Fried may be hoping that his support for the bill will help him avoid punishment in the future.

Other senators also spoke extremely negatively about the FTX founder, accusing him of 'robbing clients' and 'inflating a bubble' in the cryptocurrency market. They believe that Bankman-Fried has discredited himself and should not have any influence on the formation of rules for the industry in which he committed major financial abuses.

Overall, the senators' reaction demonstrates that trust in Sam Bankman-Fried in the crypto community and regulatory bodies has been completely lost. His involvement in any cryptocurrency regulation initiative will most likely be perceived negatively. This calls into question the prospects for the adoption of the Clarity Act and other similar bills that are being lobbied by former heads of bankrupt cryptocurrency exchanges.
