Crypto ETFs still not in high demand among institutional investors
Morgan Stanley's Digital Assets Management executive Amy Oldenburg said that the majority of demand for crypto ETFs among clients of major brokerage firms is still coming from retail, or individual, investors. According to her, interest from institutional investors in this asset class, although gradually growing, remains quite limited so far.
Oldenburg noted that the adoption of crypto ETFs by institutional investors is at a "very early" stage. Many large asset management firms and family offices are still hesitant to allocate significant funds to cryptocurrencies, fearing high volatility and ambiguous regulation in this market.
However, the expert believes that institutional investor interest in crypto ETFs will gradually increase. Such financial instruments provide a more convenient and secure way to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies compared to direct investment in digital assets. In addition, the launch of crypto ETFs approved by regulators will make this market more transparent and attractive to conservative investors.
Conclusion
Crypto ETFs are still in the early stages of adoption by institutional investors, who approach them with caution due to high volatility and regulatory uncertainty. Nevertheless, as the market develops and new, more reliable financial instruments for exposure to cryptocurrencies emerge, the interest of major players in this segment will gradually grow.
