Banning Crypto Discussions on Discord
There has been a trend among some communities and platforms to restrict or ban any mentions of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. Recently, it became known that the Discord server of the popular AI-based game OpenClaw is introducing a similar ban.
OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger officially confirmed that users will be prohibited from discussing Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies on their Discord channel. Those who ignore this rule risk being removed from the server.
This decision is likely related to the general trend of the cryptocurrency industry distancing itself from gaming communities. Many game developers fear that mentioning cryptocurrencies could negatively impact the image of their products, especially in the wake of recent scandals with NFTs and "play-to-earn" games.
Additionally, such bans may also be driven by the OpenClaw Discord server's desire to avoid moderation and legal issues related to the discussion of highly volatile and often unregulated crypto assets.
