Space-based Bitcoin mining becomes a reality

Starcloud, a startup specializing in the creation of orbital data centers, has announced plans to launch Bitcoin mining operations in space. According to Starcloud CEO Philip Johnston, mining Bitcoin using ASIC miners in space is 30% cheaper than mining on ground-based GPU farms.

This solution can be a breakthrough for the cryptocurrency industry, as it allows to reduce the main costs - electricity and equipment. In addition, the absence of Earth's gravity and cooling the equipment through the vacuum of space can significantly increase the efficiency of mining.

At the moment, Starcloud is in the prototype development stage of the first orbital data centers and is negotiating with space agencies to organize launches. According to preliminary estimates, the first commercial Bitcoin mining operations in space could begin within the next 2-3 years.

The development of space-based mining could become one of the key trends in the cryptocurrency industry in the medium term. This will not only reduce costs, but also provide additional competitive advantages for miners operating in space.
