Winter Storm Hits Bitcoin Miners' Profits

According to analytics firm CryptoQuant, Bitcoin mining profits in January 2023 have fallen to a 14-month low. The main reason for this was the winter storms that disrupted the operations of major mining centers in the US and Canada.

CryptoQuant data shows that current Bitcoin mining conditions are extremely unfavorable - miners are being 'extremely underpaid' given the current BTC price. Analysts note that the costs of electricity, equipment, and other operating expenses continue to rise, while the block mining rewards remain low.

The winter storms that hit North America in late 2022 disrupted the operations of large mining farms, leading to a decrease in the overall computing power of the Bitcoin network. Although mining recovered in January, miner revenues remain low amid high inflation and the drop in the BTC exchange rate.

Despite the current difficulties, experts believe that the long-term prospects for Bitcoin remain positive. They believe that the digital currency network will continue to evolve, and blockchain technology will find more applications in various sectors of the economy.
