The Rise and Fall of Web3 Games on Ronin
The Ronin network, an Ethereum scaling solution, has been actively used for various Web3 gaming projects in recent years. One such project was the role-playing game Forgotten Runiverse, which, unfortunately, is now forced to shut down its servers until further notice.
Forgotten Runiverse was positioned as a free-to-play game with elements of earning from in-game assets, using the Ronin blockchain for transaction verification. However, despite the interest of users in Web3 games, the project was unable to attract a sufficient audience and ensure stable revenue to continue full-time operation.
This is another example of how promising Web3 gaming startups are facing serious challenges in the current market conditions. High competition, lack of user trust, and the overall instability of the cryptocurrency market are creating significant obstacles to the successful development of such projects.
Nevertheless, experts believe that the long-term prospects for Web3 games remain quite optimistic. As the popularity and trust in blockchain technologies grow, we may see the emergence of more stable and successful gaming projects that offer a unique gaming experience based on the principles of decentralized finance (DeFi) and ownership of in-game assets.
