Ethereum DAO hack funds to be used for new security initiative: Griff Green
Griff Green, a prominent Ethereum activist, has revealed that the Ethereum Foundation team plans to use the funds remaining after the 2016 The DAO hack to finance a new initiative to enhance the security of the blockchain ecosystem.
"The DAO has an incredible team that could build security projects themselves. But now we want to focus on methods of distributing security information," Green said.
After the The DAO hack, where a hacker stole $50 million in Ethereum, a significant portion of the stolen funds was never claimed. According to Green, these unclaimed tokens are planned to be used to finance new cybersecurity initiatives within the Ethereum ecosystem.
Green also noted that the Ethereum community is striving to develop projects that will help restore user confidence in the blockchain. This is especially relevant in light of recent DeFi protocol hacks that have damaged the reputation of the entire industry.
Overall, the Ethereum Foundation's initiative to use The DAO hack funds to ensure the security of the network looks like a rational and necessary step. The cryptocurrency community has long awaited comprehensive measures to improve cybersecurity, especially in the rapidly growing DeFi sector.
