The concept is straightforward: when a user visits your website but leaves without converting, a tracking pixel fires and adds them to a retargeting audience. Later, as that user browses other websites or social media, they see your ads reminding them to complete their action. Facebook retargeting audiences typically cost $3-$8 CPM compared to $10-$25 for cold prospecting audiences, while converting at significantly higher rates. A real-world example: an online casino runs Facebook ads driving users to a registration page. Of 10,000 visitors, 300 sign up (3% CR).
